The 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy

The committee has produced a commemorative poster marking Italy’ 150th Anniversary. There will be special concerts symposiums and events throughout the year held in New York City as part of the committee’s celebration of Italy at 150.

 150th Annversary

On 17th March 1861, the Kingdom of Italy was proclaimed with Torino as its first capital.
In 1911 Italy commemorated its first 50 years with an international Industrial Exhibition in Turin. This commemoration drew crowds of more than 7 million visitors.
To celebrate the Centenial in 1961 Turin hosted a showcase for Italy and its regional traditions.
In 2011 Italy is planning to celebrate its 150th anniversary. A nationwide celebration will takeplace like there was in 1911 and in 1961: it will be an opportunity to look back at the past but also to review the present and take a look at the future of Italy
