The 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy
The committee has produced a commemorative poster marking Italy’ 150th Anniversary. There will be special concerts symposiums and events throughout the year held in New York City as part of the committee’s celebration of Italy at 150.
This poster features listings of all Italy's 20 regions, 100+ provinces and 8,000+ towns and cities. They are all integrated with a map of Italy, Italia 150 headline and Italian flag.

On 17th March 1861, the Kingdom of Italy was proclaimed with Torino as its first capital.
In 1911 Italy commemorated its first 50 years with an international Industrial Exhibition in Turin. This commemoration drew crowds of more than 7 million visitors.
To celebrate the Centenial in 1961 Turin hosted a showcase for Italy and its regional traditions.
In 2011 Italy is planning to celebrate its 150th anniversary. A nationwide celebration will takeplace like there was in 1911 and in 1961: it will be an opportunity to look back at the past but also to review the present and take a look at the future of Italy.

The Italian heritage and Culture Month Committee was part of a six member welcoming committee on behalf of the entire Italian American community at reception held for the President of Italy Giorgio Napolitaon on Sunday, March 27 at the St. Regis Hotel, in New York City.
